What I Got For Christmas | #APOVGiftSwap

January 15, 2017

Today I thought that I would share about What I Got For Christmas last year, from the lovely Marisa from Marisa Thorne!

So I joined in the #APOV gift swap last year and I really had a lot of fun! I did make a post on it; here, but in summary it is a blogger Christmas gift swap!
I was paired with the lovely Marisa from Marisa Thorne and after exchanging a few emails, she got me some wonderful things! I think that I might be missing something out but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is, but thank you so much Marisa for all of the amazing things that your got me.
The first thing that I got were some awesome Superdrug face masks. These are so fun and sweet smelling. I have used one or two before but that was a while ago, so I look forward to using these!

Next are the set of two Cleansing Pads. I had no idea what these were before but I after reading up on them these are silicone face exfoliants (I think that is a word) and they work alongside your cleanser to give your skin a deep clean. I have one in my bathroom now that I am using, but with my memory I do forget to use it sometimes, but I use it and it does make it easier to clean my face.

I have mine downstairs but I constantly forgot to take a photo of it until I have the worst lighting but next I received a great yoghurt jar! I don't think that I will use this for yoghurt right now but I will definitely find a use for it when I need to eat my breakfast on the go!

The final thing is the Lush Buttercup gift set which smells SO GOOD. I am so happy with it and I haven't just yet used it, but when I do I will probably write a review.

So once again, a HUGE THANK YOU to Marisa! I love everything that you got me and it was so kind of you to get me such lovely things.

Frost Blood by Elly Blake- Book Review

January 11, 2017

Frostblood by Elly Blake Review

Frostblood by Elly Blake

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book for free from the author to review, however all opinions are my own and the review is completely unbiased.

Frostblood by Elly Blake is the first book in the series and tells the story of Ember, a teenage Fireblood, a hated race of people who have the ability to wield fire to their will. She had hidden her abilities well from the Frostbloods, who knowing her powers would send the royal army out to arrest and kill her, with the help of her mother, until the day she is captured by the evil Frostblood people.

She is rescued by a group of Frostbloods, who want to use her for a gruesome, dangerous task.

I enjoyed the book a lot! I liked the premise and I thought that it was well structured and played out.
Blake's writing style is really good, and the characters felt very three dimensional and I wanted to cheer them on almost all the time.

The reason that this book has not gotten five stars is because of the Romance. I really didn't understand the love interest in the novel, it didn't really mesh and the characters are too different in my opinion to fall in love.
The book also has similar plot lines to books that I have read before. I will not name names, but it is another popular book which is by a NY Times Bestselling Author. I have actually read other reviews of the book and other bloggers and reviewers have also recognised the likeness, so it is definitely there. I dislike comparing books in such a way but there are some uncanny themes that spark up in both of books, so it can be hard to deny those similarities. I find that disappointing because the book is really well written but a lot of what happened in it has been done before.

Yesterdays #bookmail I got both of these beauties from @chapter5books and @hodderbooks (thank you!) I had no idea that they were coming but I am super excited to receive them! 💙❤️ I received Frostbite by @elly_blake and Caraval by @stephanie_garber and both come out in January 2017! CARAVAL is about two sisters, Scarlett and Tella who live on an island called Trisda, but really want to go to see a show called Caraval which is on a different island. Magical events ensue! #caraval FROSTBLOOD is a debut novel by Elly Blake and is the first book in a series and follows seventeen year old Ruby who can wield fire and heat! However her powers are unpredictable and must be hidden, until a group of rebels find her and she is included in a plot against the King! #frostblood I am very excited to read these! The books are gorgeous too for proofs!

Overall, I did enjoy the book, it was really good. I would definitely recommend it to fans of fantasy but I would beware of the similarities and try to think of the novel as it's own thing; separate from other bestsellers. I definitely think that Blake is one to watch; her writing is extraordinary.

What House Am I in? And other Harry Potter Stuff

January 05, 2017

Happy New Year Everyone!

I am sorry that you never got many Christmas posts, I feel very ill and now I am finally better! Thank you for patiently waiting and bearing with me though.
Today I have a fun post, I thought that I would share with you some more about me, and Harry Potter! Most of you who have been reading for a while know that I am a big fan of Harry Potter, the books and the movies, but I have never shared properly what house that I am in or any of my other Pottermore details.

I am a Ravenclaw! I love reading and learning so I sort of knew from the start that I was going to be a Ravenclaw. I am really happy in my house but I do admit that I definitely have some Slytherin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff qualities which can show through depending on what mood I am in...

I wish I could tell you guys that I am esctatic to be a Thunderbird but all I know is that they favour adventure and I am more of a wistful planner than an adventurer. I also don't really know much about the house so I can't say whether or not I am a perfect match.

What is my Patronus?

Well... At first I was told that my Patronus was a boar. LOL. Over my dead body will I ever be compared to a PIG! You must be mad mate... So then I decided that it would be smart to open a new Pottermore account and do the Patronus Quiz again... this time I got a Nebelung Cat. Don't really like that either. I mean, its not bad, but there is better. So then I googled all of the possible Patronuses that you can get and I personally think that I am a Doe, or a Lynx, or a Chameleon.

I hope you liked this post and I would love to see if people are up for doing one too!
