5 More Fun Facts About Me!

April 13, 2017

I really enjoyed writing the last posts about myself (sounds vain haha) and they got a good response from all of you! I thought that I would share a little more about me!

My Essentials for Effective Exam Revision | School

April 10, 2017

I am sorry that I have not been posting for a while, I have been doing a lot of revising for my upcoming exams, which inspired today's post, in which I will be sharing with you all my Essentials for effective exam revision!

March Wishlist | Fashion

March 20, 2017

I don't really have a perfected style when it comes to fashion, but there are definitely things which I know I like. I thought I would share some pieces which I have seen and liked this month and might buy (probably not though because I don't have cash, lol)

My 2017 Birthday Wishlist

March 11, 2017

So, if you didn't know my birthday is on the Sixteenth of April and I am SO excited. Today I am sharing my birthday wishlist, and most years I have shared what I want for my birthday on my blog, as I have found that it also helps a lot of people get ideas for what they can ask for when it is their birthday. The majority of this list has repeated itself from previous years, and not everything is brand specific because it is easier that way.

Disclaimer: Because I get a lot of people asking me what I want for my birthday each year I make a list. I am not trying to "beg" people to buy me things and I am grateful for everything that I get. I'm not spoiled but I am blessed to have people in my life who care about me and are willing to get me these things and even if it isn't on this list and I get it or I get nothing from them, I am still extremely grateful that they are around to celebrate and/or wish me a good birthday.

5 things you (probably) don't know about me!

March 05, 2017

I really love chatting with you all and hope that you've been having a good day so far! Today I am talking about myself and some fun and kind of random facts that you might not know about me yet.

1. I am obsessed with birthdays

Most people assume that when I say this I only mean that I like my birthday. Nope. I remember my teachers birthdays, my friend's and my relative's birthday pretty well. Also the idea of turning one year older is so exciting to me, little bit scary for some people but those same people love it when they get a birthday card from me, so who's complaining ;D

2. I have a huge notebook collection

I love notebooks so much and own WAY TOO MANY.  I do plan on doing a little collection post on all of my notebooks because I have around 20 unused ones. I won't give any away though. There are mine. All mine.

3. I am the "motherly one" out of all my friends

I am in a brilliant group of friends and if you met us and hung out with all of us, you would definitely know that I am the motherly one, otherwise known as the Monica (if you get that friends reference then you a goals). I am just very responsible out of all of us, I think that I give good advice too, and am a little old-fashioned.

4. When I am older, I want to be a polyglot

Polyglot: a person who knows and is able to use several languages.
My mum and sister are both bilingual, but my Dad is actually a polyglot because he can speak a lot of languages. I love languages and I am really interesting in learning more, currently I learn French and German, so hopefully one day I will be fluent!

5. I prefer sweets over chocolate

I really like sweets but I don't really like chocolate as much... people get pretty shocked when I say this but I do eat some chocolate, in particular the George's Marvellous Medicine popping candy chocolate, twix bars and maltesers, because they are delicious...

February Reading Wrap Up | Books

March 02, 2017

So it is the second month of the year and I am back with my wrap up! To see last months wrap up, click here (opens in new tab)

I won't lie to you, February was a slower month than I had originally anticipated. I was really looking forward to this month because I knew that I had half term and that I was going to be able to have a lot more free time to read and write and do things that I wasn't able to do all of the time.
Unfortunately, I think that I (grossly) overestimated the amount of free time that I was going to have, as I spent a lot of timing hanging out with friends, revising and organizing myself.
I did get a few books read and am ahead of my yearly target, so I am still pretty proud with what I have read!
Also, I didn't get many (any) reviews up last month, but they will be done this month! I have a couple already written and on Goodreads so they will be up very soon, hopefully!

A Tragic Kind of Wonderful by Eric Lindstorm

Read from the 1/2-9/2
Rated 3.75/5
Picked this up as an arc at the beginning of the month. Sort of went into it blind, as I didn't really remember the plot of it but I had heard good things about the author and was impressed- review will be available soon.

Saven Deliverance By Siobhan Davis

Read from the 5/2-8/2
Rated 4/5
This is the last book in the Saven Series by Siobhan Davis which I love. It is sad to see an end to all of the amazing characters but I guess it was a good end.

Close Your Eyes by Nicci Cloke

Rated 5/5
THIS BOOK WAS MAD. IT WAS AMAZING. Review to come once I officially gather my thoughts to put down on paper.

Looking For Alaska By John Green (Audiobook)

Listened to from the 17/2-18/2
Rated 4/5
I listened to this book while I was rearranging my bedroom and really enjoyed it. This is second John Green Book that I've read, after the "Fault in Our Stars" and I definitely like Green's writing. I think that I want to read this in a physical format instead of listening to it next time.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Read from the 20/2-26/2
Rated 3.5/5
Hmmm... Honestly, I don't know what to think. When it comes to this book, it is putting it lightly to say that I am conflicted. All thoughts will be in my review which I haven't even written yet because I don't really know what to say.

I hope that you found this short and sweet post interesting! I will see all of you soon in my next one.

January Reading Wrap Up and Why I No Longer Make Monthly TBR's | Books

February 05, 2017

Today I am going to be sharing with you all what I read in the first month of 2016 2017 as well as having a little chat and (hopefully) a discussion about why I am choosing to not make Monthly TBR's anymore.
I am really happy that January 2017 has been pretty good reading month and I have been able to get lots of books read. I haven't done many wrap ups as I had a bad reading slump last year, but I thought that today I would share what novels I have been reading in combination with a bit of a chatty segment about why I won't be doing Monthly TBR's piles/posts  anymore.

So this month I read 6 books, which is really good because my goal this year is to read only 30. I would love to read more though, but this is a big exam year for me so I would like to focus on revision a little more. Nevertheless, this is a great start as I didn't read as many last year.

Blood Brothers

Finished On The 3/1/17
I have to read Blood Brothers for School, but this is the first time I read it cover to cover. Before I had gone through it and highlighted quotes and did some annotations.

Blood Brothers is a modern tragedy by Willy Russell, a Liverpoolian writer from the 1970's. This play has a lot to do with superstitions, fate and the conflict between classes.
I think that the play was very enjoyable to watch, as I watched it on Youtube, here. Additionally, I find that it was very well and cleverly written, but it isn't really something that I would pick up if it wasn't for school.
More to come in my review of it, which probably won't be for a while, but if you want it soon, then let your thoughts be heard in the comments!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Finished on the 16/1/17
I received an ARC of Caraval a few months ago but only got around to reading it early this month, before it came out! I loved it, it was absolutely amazing.
❝Whatever you've heard about Caraval, it doesn't compare to the reality. It's more than just a game or a performance. It's the closest you'll ever find to magic in this world.❞
Caraval is an annual game held by the illusive Master Legend where the players are immersed in an elaborate performance. This year, only days before her wedding, Scarlett Dragma is whisked off her home island to the Isle de los Suenos, where anything can happen.
This book was seriously enchanting and definitely a 5 star read. Look out for my review soon!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Finished on 18/1/17

I don't really feel like I need to put a description of this book here because pretty much everyone knows what it is about as it has been the apple of all Harry Potter Fans eye, until most of them read it to be honest.
I have to say that I am part of the mixed bunch. I found that it was an enjoyable book but it didn't feel like JK Rowling to me. Or maybe I didn't imagine.
I don't know. As you can see I am fairly conflicted about it

The Sun is Also A Star By Nicola Yoon

Finished on 24/1/17

I really loved this book
I really, really loved this book.
I think that Nicola Yoon is going to be one of my new Jandy Nelson's. And that it saying something.
I don't want to share too much because I will have a review coming out on this book, but it takes place over one day and it is about an illegal immigrant called Natasha and a Korean American boy called Daniel, meeting each other.

Am I Normal Yet? By Holly Bourne

Finished on 27/1/17

I got this book ages ago, I think at YALC 2015, when I won a giveaway for a signed, limited edition copy.
I picked this up because I thought it would be a more lighthearted read and it really was. I enjoyed it and will be writing a review up soon!

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

Did not Finish. Will never Finish
Stopped Reading Deliberately.
Refuse to dwell any more on this book specifically, but a blog post will be up about my thoughts on potentially this book but others in the genre of "celebrity books"

I am currently reading Seeking Mansfield by Kate Watson, but more on that will be in next months wrap up!

New Years Resolutions and Progress Update

February 01, 2017

I haven't shared or talked about my New Years Resolutions on my blog since this post in 2015 and my first one in 2014. I wanted to do a small progress update though, to see how I am getting along with my Resolutions and share a little more about how I am going to achieve more of them in the next month.

I wanted to sort of hold myself accountable for My New Years Resolutions this year so I decided that maybe every month or two I would share with you all how they are coming along!
I know that I didn't share much about what my NYR's are earlier in the year, but I wanted to make sure that I was going to try and achieve them before sharing them all!
Over the years I have made more and more resolutions for myself. This is probably because I feel like I know what I want to achieve as I get older.

My Resolutions are separated into sub-categories; Social, Reading, Health, A Better Me and Other. This really helped me when I was deciding on my Resolutions (I have also colour coded them in the same way that I did in my diary. Some are similar/the same as previous years, because I enjoyed the challenge or I have more motivation to achieve it now!

I guess that is what everyone is here for? In the future it will not be as long as this, I will only be writing about what Resolutions I have been completing.

Meet a Famous/Important Person- Haven't done that yet!
Hang out with my Friends at Least Once a Month- I chose this as a Resolutions as I can be antisocial sometimes and I feel like I need to be more proactive in my friendships. I am happy to say that I have hung out with two of my friends this month, and I have planned to meet up with a few more.
Start Sending and Receiving Encouragement Cards- I honestly forgot about this one!
Be a better Friend- I'm trying! And honestly I think that I am doing a better job than last year.
Meet New People- I've meet maybe one or two new people, but this is definitely a goal of mine.

Read 30 books- I've read 6 so far, I am on my 7th! I am very proud of myself as I am really enjoying reading again and the past years have been quite slow.
Do a reading challenge- I have one planned for March or a Summer month, right now I am quite busy.
Finish 2 Series- Or you can start 3. Oh wait! Does Harry Potter and The Cursed Child Count? I read that!
Stop returning books late to the library- Or Read books on your own shelves. And review a couple for the blog.

Be able to do the splits- Haven't tried
Practise mindfulness- What's that again?
Take Vitamins- LOL
Exercise Everyday- LOL
Get 8 hours of sleep each night- I had a few sleepless nights but overall this went well.
Fuel my body with better food- I'm getting better, extremely slowly. No thanks to my friends who geniunely eat rubbish. Seriously I want to see one of them eat a pear one day
Drink 2l of water every day- Or not

A Better Me

Start a gratitude journal- I did start this and I have a few entries! Pretty pleased with myself!
Learn something new every week- That's what school is for
Declutter/ keep my space organized- I have actually done a good job of keep my room pretty tidy
Get in touch with God more often- One of my greatest January successes. I am really happy that I accomplished this.
Save money- Did this okay...
Be more productive with my time- I'll try again next time
Have a better attitude towards life- I am a naturally cynical person

Write and revise a novel draft- She hasn't even tried
Get a job- I want to accomplish this around April, just after/before my birthday
Have a wardrobe that I am proud of- I did get some clothes for Christmas that I like. But then I ripped my favourite Levi's...

Use my diary more- I found it so useful in the first weeks of the month and now that use is draining....
Start doing exercise- I have found a few on Pinterest that I want to do.
Knit a pair of socks- Something I haven't wanted and tried to do for a while, but kept on snapping my DPN's.
Send an encouragement card
Meet 3 new people
Drink at least one bottle of water a day
Be more productive!
Put a bit more effort into joining twitter chats and things blogging related. (we all know that you were waiting for that one)
Read 6 books (I don't want to push myself too much)

Sorry that this post is so long, my next updates will be significantly shorter!

What I Got For Christmas | #APOVGiftSwap

January 15, 2017

Today I thought that I would share about What I Got For Christmas last year, from the lovely Marisa from Marisa Thorne!

So I joined in the #APOV gift swap last year and I really had a lot of fun! I did make a post on it; here, but in summary it is a blogger Christmas gift swap!
I was paired with the lovely Marisa from Marisa Thorne and after exchanging a few emails, she got me some wonderful things! I think that I might be missing something out but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is, but thank you so much Marisa for all of the amazing things that your got me.
The first thing that I got were some awesome Superdrug face masks. These are so fun and sweet smelling. I have used one or two before but that was a while ago, so I look forward to using these!

Next are the set of two Cleansing Pads. I had no idea what these were before but I after reading up on them these are silicone face exfoliants (I think that is a word) and they work alongside your cleanser to give your skin a deep clean. I have one in my bathroom now that I am using, but with my memory I do forget to use it sometimes, but I use it and it does make it easier to clean my face.

I have mine downstairs but I constantly forgot to take a photo of it until I have the worst lighting but next I received a great yoghurt jar! I don't think that I will use this for yoghurt right now but I will definitely find a use for it when I need to eat my breakfast on the go!

The final thing is the Lush Buttercup gift set which smells SO GOOD. I am so happy with it and I haven't just yet used it, but when I do I will probably write a review.

So once again, a HUGE THANK YOU to Marisa! I love everything that you got me and it was so kind of you to get me such lovely things.
