Growing up on a small farm in the kingdom of Vanguard, seventeen-year-old Layla Givens lives a deceptively tranquil existence. But her carefully constructed life quickly falls apart when she's abducted by a religious zealot who proclaims her The Fulfillment of an ancient peace prophecy and whisks her away to marry her greatest enemy.

Wilhelm, Prince of the Ethereals, is reluctant to meet his new bride. He's grown up believing Vanguards are evil, an enemy to fight and fear...not love. Can he set aside his prejudices and work alongside Layla to bring lasting peace after centuries of war?

Nash, a loner who has never fit in, carries a huge secret, one big enough to destroy both kingdoms. When he accidently meets Layla, he's no longer content to live in the shadows, but he must resist his growing attraction--for her safety and for the longevity of the two kingdoms.

When Nash's secret is revealed, a firestorm sweeps through both realms, with Layla at the center. Now she must choose between duty and desire while the fate of two nations hangs in the balance.

About Erin Rhew

Erin Rhew
Erin Rhew is an editor, a running coach, and the author of The Fulfillment Series. Since she picked up Morris the Moose Goes to School at age four, she has been infatuated with the written
word. She went on to work as a grammar and writing tutor in college and is still teased by her family and friends for being a member of the "Grammar Police."

A Southern girl by blood and birth, Erin now lives in a rainy pocket of the Pacific Northwest with the amazingly talented (and totally handsome) writer Deek Rhew and their “overly fluffy,” patient-as-a-saint writing assistant, a tabby cat named Trinity. She and Deek enjoy reading aloud to one another, running, lifting, boxing, eating chocolate, and writing side-by- side.

The Prophecy (The Fulfillment Series #1)

I received this book free from the author in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own and this does not change my opinion of the novel.

The Prophecy by Erin Rhew is the first novel in the Prophecy trilogy. The story follows Layla Givens, a girl from the farmlands of a kingdom called Vanguard. She loves a quiet existence, until one day she is labelled as the awaited "Fufillment" awaited by Vanguard and rivalling neighbour country Etherea by, if i may say, an absolutely crazy religious monk-like figure.

I really, really enjoyed this book! I haven't been able to read fantasy for quite a while, and this is the best one I have read for quite a long time.

I really enjoyed reading about Layla. I feel like Rhew really understood the character that she was writing about and that made her so 3D.
I love the fact that Layla is a fighter. I think that it is brilliant that she is self-protecting, and not really a damsel in distress character.

I think that after that I really liked Wilhelm, who is the Prince of Etherea. (But I kept on wanting to correct the fact that it said "Wil" but I have no idea why that annoyed me)

One person that I DIDN'T LIKE (emphasis on the DIDN'T LIKE) was The Zealot, Elder Werrick. I absolutely wanted to KILL HIM. (which was meant to be the effect on me I think)

The Romance in the novel was, in my opinion, a cliché which was made more interesting and twisted. I would prefer for you all to go read the book and form your own opinions on it. I really liked it. It was a standard love triangle which I don't always like, in a new and quite different way.

I also thought the plot was great. I have already added the later books to my TBR. It was really intricate and well written.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I would suggest reading it if you want a fantasy book and you love romance elements. I would recommend!
